• A fixed deposit can be opened with a minimum deposit value of Rs.5000.
• Senior citizens get a 0.5% additional interest, on the going rate
• Deposit holders can obtain loans against the deposit value
• The deposit holder must be a citizen of Sri Lanka
• The deposit holder must be over 18 years of age
Eligible Deposit liabilities are insured with the Sri Lanka Deposit Insurance and Liquidity Support Scheme implemented by the Monetary Board for compensation up to a maximum of Rs. 1,100,000/- per depositor.
